American Heart Association celebrates 61 years of advancements in heart health
CHARLOTTE – March 9, 2019 – More than 1,000 individuals from over 100 companies will gather on Saturday, March 9th in celebration of the 61st anniversary of the American Heart Association’s Greater Charlotte Heart Ball at the NASCAR Hall of Fame Crown Ballroom at 6:00 p.m. The sold-out event, “Anything is Possible” celebrates the 50th anniversary of the first lunar landing and the courage and curiosity of space exploration that inspires all of us.
For 60 years, the Greater Charlotte Heart Ball has attracted the city’s largest companies and most recognized corporate, healthcare, and social leaders. It is a unique evening designed to celebrate the success of a year-round campaign to build healthier lives that are free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke and the generosity of individuals in our community. This year’s space-themed event is led by 2019 Heart Ball Chairman Tom Finke, Chairman and CEO of Barings with Dr. Bruce Cohen, CEO of OrthoCarolina and Chairman of Greater Charlotte AHA Board of Directors discussing local community impact. The event will also introduce a new tradition with the Heart of Gold award going to Greg and Kara Olsen of The HEARTest Yard.
Thanks to Experience to Lead and NASA, the event includes the Apollo Leadership Experience for 12 people in this year’s, Live Auction. This package includes a custom, two-day executive leadership program that includes exclusive access to the Johnson Space Center. The winning bidder and team will explore adaptive leadership and innovation through the lens of the 10-year Apollo Moon Mission and be immersed in the stories of the men and women of NASA to extract critical lessons that can be used in business setting today. The American Heart Association funds more cardiovascular research grants than anyone globally with the exception of the federal government. The Greater Charlotte Heart Ball, a major fundraising event for the American Heart Association, is one of the top Heart Balls in the country. The event raises over $1 million annually and brings together local businesses, medical communities, professionals, and philanthropists to help with the AHA’s mission to build healthier lives free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke.
